Day 4- 31 Days of Halloween: Autumn Sunset

Hello, hello! It's day 4 of 31 Days, and since I've been sharing some pretty monochromatic projects with you, I thought I'd liven it up a bit with something colorful. One of my favorite things about this season are the vibrant, warm, beautiful tones; the orange pumpkins... the red, gold, brown and burgundy leaves... the colorful apples and squash...the gorgeous flowers...I'm sure you have a visual now. That is what inspired this project.

I decided to make a painting to be displayed over my fireplace. I started with a flat canvas and covered it with spackle, then sprinkled it with clean crushed eggshells, which gave it the bumpy texture.(You'll definitely want to click on the pics to see the textures up close!) Then it pretty much came down to painting my scene(I used various paints and techniques), and then adding in my pumpkins from Smeared Ink's digi set The Patch, which were colored using prisma pencils and distressed slightly.

Here are a couple of closeups of my autumn tree and my pumpkins.

I LOVE the way it turned out, and it reminds me of taking an evening to go to the pumpkin patch and pick out a perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin. Sipping hot cider, walking through a corn maze, and imagining a superb spooky face that you will carve into your prize later in the month. Listening to the kids talk excitedly about the upcoming festivities, and remembering what it was like to go trick-or-treating as a child. Ahhhh, I want to be in my painting!!

I hope you get the same feeling that I do when I look at this, and that it inspires you to use some fall colors for some of your upcoming creative projects. I also hope that you will continue on to the other Wicked Blog participants and see what they have in store for you today.
I've heard that there is a hidden prize lurking about somewhere in the blog roll....hmmmm... the pouting witch from Smeared Ink has gone astray, and we need your help locating her! If you spot the pouting witch somewhere, you should probably email and let us know where she is! We'll even have a drawing for a reward of your own pouting witch to add to your digi family! The winner will be announced tomorrow.
Remember that you can find the wicked blogs listed in my sidebar, and if you need a refresher on how 31 Days works, just click here. Have a wonderful day, and I'll be back with another project tomorrow!
