I started with an oval glass ornament that you've been able to find in craft stores over the past month or so. (Christmas in September...how annoying is that! But, at least I got some ornaments.) I didn't do much to the orny, just filled it with this really pretty glitter powder that I've had for a long time that I never used. It's not quite orange, but that's okay, I sealed the lid shut with masking tape so it wouldn't leak out, added back the original topper, and wrapped it in ribbon. Then I added a glittery loop and bow at the top.
For my attached instruction card, I started with a tag that came off of a toy we got at target. You know, the fold over ones that are attached with an elastic chord? Well, I took some paper bag and covered it outside and inside. Then I distressed a little with brown. I stamped my fairy from Smeared Ink's Faes set using the same brown, and then colored him very lightly. I wanted it to look very faded.
After that, I hand wrote the contents (Halloween Fairy Essence), date it was gathered, and expiration date. Then on the inside I wrote the warnings and instructions. In case you can't read my handwriting, which alot of people can't, it says:
"Contents: Halloween Fairy Essence. Caution: May cause excessive need to play tricks. Use to ward off evil on All Hallows Eve. Sprinkle around your yard to attract Halloween Fairies and deter Goblins from stealing your treats."
I reattached the elastic chord, and as a final touch I sprayed the whole mini-card with a gold shimmer mist, which you may not be able to see in the pics but is really shiny! I think it turned out super cute, and I'll be hanging it in my little cabinet. I may make some other fairy essence bottles with the rest of the Faes in different colors to complete the collection. And I'm postitive that my kids will want to sprinkle some of this outside of our house on Halloween!
