Smudgefest 2015 Day 7

Oh my gosh, it's the FINAL CHALLENGE! Can you believe it? Congrats to those of you who have been here the whole week and for making it through all the challenges. Before we move on to today's challenge, we have something to let you know about.

If you missed yesterday's winner post or haven't seen it already on the Smeared and Smudged Facebook group (or don't have a clue what it is), we have posted our information for 31 Days of Halloween 2015!

We are taking sign-ups for Wicked Bloggers and are hoping that this will be our biggest hop to date! It's a fun chance to immerse yourself in a month full of Halloween and Day of the Dead projects, with cool prizes to be had and awesome projects to be seen, so please check out the information HERE. If you're interested in participating as a Wicked Blogger, I suggest you sign up sooner rather than later and get a jump start on your projects. If you don't want to sign up, you can still hop along as a Horrifying Hopper or Sinister Lurker and win great prizes; that information is posted as well. We are also already taking sponsor sign ups, so if you know anyone who would be interested in having their site or company featured during the hop, you can contact us at smearedinkstamps@gmail.com.

Okay, now on to Smudgefest

Ready to Play? Here is our Day 7 challenge!

The Challenge:

SUPER SUNDAY

This one is a little different than anything we've done before. Your challenge is to take any Smeared Ink image and turn it into some sort of superhero on your project! We'll be nice and let you choose either super hero or super villain, but in your description or even on your project, you must tell us your super's name and super power.

The Prize:

"Tell Your Story" single digi image from Smeared Ink

Remember, be sure to link up by midnight tonight to qualify for the prize. Then check back tomorrow when we will be announcing our Day 7 prize winner . Have Fun and thanks for playing along with Smudgefest!

Smudgefest Winner Day 5 plus some NEWS!

Once again I have a winner to announce! Day 5 had some pretty excellent entries- it's amazing what all of you can do with some fiber and stamps. Thank you once again for taking the time to participate with our Smudgefest challenges, we really do hope you are enjoying it!

As always, our winners were chose by random.org, and here is our Day 5 winner:

Congrats, Ike!
Send us a quick email at smearedinkstamps@gmail.com and we'll send on over your digi!

Yay! Only two more chances to get in on the daily prizes and fun of Smudgefest, we hope you will join in either today or tomorrow! Good luck everyone!

On another note, we have some news to share with you. Tomorrow's final Smudgefest challenge and winner announcement will be the last entries that you will see on this blog. This is a little sad for me, but I am ecstatic to announce that our future blog posts will be located at smearedink.com! All Smeared Ink shop and blog goodness will be conveniently located in one place! As a matter of fact, if you didn't see our FB announcement yet, head on over to smearedink.com and check out our first couple of blog posts. We are starting 31 Days of Halloween 2015 sign ups now! You will also get a little bit more information about our shop, plus you'll see the new design. Hope you like it!

BTW, I will continue to share my own personal artwork through another blog that's in the makes. I feel it is time to move on from More Smeared Ink into something that encompasses more than stamping for my personal page. You'll see it linked for 31 Days, so please visit me there.

Have a great day everyone!

Smudgefest 2015 Day 1

We at Smeared Ink are so excited to be hosting our fifth annual week-long challenge extravaganza called SmudgeFest! Each morning from now until Sunday we will post a different challenge theme. Participants will have until midnight to post their project for that day's challenge. The daily winner will be drawn by random number and announced the next morning, and a new challenge theme will be posted as well. Daily prizes will vary, and the only way to know what they are is to join us each day. Since we're currently working on reopening our shop, we won't be offering a grand prize this year, but we hope you'll enjoy the daily prizes and the challenges!

Here are the rules:

*Each morning from August 3rd through 9th, a new challenge will be posted. It will contain that day's theme and prize information.

*To participate, you must make a project that fits the theme and add it to that day's post using Inlinkz. The link to add your entry will be located at the bottom of each post. Your project must be linked by midnight of the same day. Your link must go straight to the post on your blog containing your project, not your blog home page.

*Your project can be anything (card, scrapbook page, altered or 3-d item, etc) as long as it is handmade and stamped somewhere with either a rubber or digital stamp. All digital projects are allowed if it fits the theme. Feel free to think outside the box and have fun with your project! We are all about looking at things differently and look forward to the variety of projects we are sure to see.

*You must use AT LEAST 1 Smeared Ink image on your project to qualify for the daily prize drawing. You are allowed to use anything else that you like. If you just want to play along and aren't worried about qualifying for the prize, you do not have to include a Smeared Ink image.

*The daily winner will be chosen by random number and revealed later the next day in a separate post (not the daily theme post).

So, are you ready to play? Welcome to Day 1 of SmudgeFest!!

The Challenge:
METAL MONDAY

Create a project that showcases a piece of metal! It can range from metal scrapbook embellishments, to paper clips, to items you would find at a hardware store. Decorate a metal object, or cut up a soda can. Use your imagination!

The Prize:
"Annabel Lee" single digi stamp from Smeared Ink

Isn't she beautiful? You'll find her in our shop when we reopen but for now she's only available as a prize for this challenge, so if you want her get into gear and make a project!

Good luck!

Welcome to 31 Days of Halloween 2014- Rules and Regs

Welcome to 31 Days of Halloween 2014- Rules and Regs

Yay! It has begun! Welcome to the sixth annual 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop hosted by Smeared Ink and the Smeared and Smudged Forum. We are so excited to be bringing you one fantastic month long event! There is a whole lot of information to share with you, so please bear with me as I go over everything.

First off, if you haven't experienced 31 Days of Halloween before, you are definitely in for a wild ride! Each year at the S&S Forum, we challenge our members to sign up to be what we call a Wicked Blogger. They will share with you one awe-inspiring Halloween or Day of the Dead themed project for the whole month of October, and each year we are thrilled with the variety and talent that is showcased by our Bloggers.

The Wicked Bloggers will have their project posts up each day by 9am PST (Pacific Standard Time) for you to peruse, and to reward them for their hard work and stress (believe me, it's stressful!) any Wicked Blogger who completes all 31 days of posts on time will be entered into our grand prize drawing at the end of the month.

Here's a sneaky-peeky at the grand prize from Smeared Ink.

*click for larger view

The prize pack includes:
3 Smeared Ink Rubber Stamp Sets of winner's choice
$25 Smeared Ink Digi Package of winner's choice
Smeared Ink Octopus Pie Fleece Throw Blanket (50" x 60")
Smeared Ink Suck It Up Yellow Messenger Bag
Tim Holtz District Market Numeric Burlap Panels
3 Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains (winner's color choice)
7Gypsies Wicked Gypsy Large Ephemera Pack
Mystery Grab Bag with $30 worth of Awesome Crafting Odds and Ends

Isn't it awesome? There is over $300 worth of amazing stuff in there. But guess what...even if you are not a Wicked Blogger, YOU still have the chance to be entered into our grand prize drawing! You can participate as a Horrifying Hopper this month and have a chance to win.

Here's how it works: As a Horrifying Hopper you must hop through each and every blog on our blog roll and leave a comment on each project. Our Blog Roll is 39 people long, so it's definitely a challenge. If you leave a comment on every blog every day for the entire month, you will be entered into the drawing at the end of the month. It's a big commitment, just like the Bloggers, but well worth it since you get to view all of the outstanding artwork each day!

Just like with the bloggers, all Horrifying Hopper comments must be posted by 9am PST. So if a post goes live at 9am, you have until 9am the following day to get your comment posted. And don't forget, the Wicked Bloggers have until 9am to get their posts up, so if you are an early hopper you may need to come back after 9am PST to see all the projects.

I know some of you are saying to yourself "I can't possibly commit to that all month long". Well, don't fret, because we have even MORE ways for you to win some impressive prizes! Each year we hold a scavenger hunt with prizes from some pretty amazing sponsors. Our 31 Days visitors, or what we lovingly refer to as our Sinister Lurkers, our Horrifying Hoppers, and our Wicked Bloggers all have the chance to participate in the Scavenger Hunt.

Each day one of our Wicked Bloggers will be hiding a tiny image on their blog. We will give you a clue about the image, and you get to find it. When you do, just EMAIL US it's location. Everyone who enters will be put into that day's drawing to win one of the sponsor prizes, and we will announce the winner the following day. Easy Peasy! All guesses must be received by 9am PST the following morning.

So, there you have it, all of the rules and regs for 31 Days of Halloween. Be sure to refer back to them if you need to, enjoy the scavenger hunt and amazing sponsors, and above all, have fun!!

New Release Day with Hop at Smeared Ink! (**For Kick-Start Your Art, please scroll down!**)

It's New Release Day at Smeared Ink! We've got two fabulous new digi sets for you available in our shop today, and we're so excited by them that we've decided to invite our Design Team members from our Smeared Ink, Mixed Media University, and Art Journal Every Day design teams to create projects for a fab New Release hop!

First, here is a preview of the new sets:

Octopus Pie
*click pics to view larger

Octopus Pie was drawn by artist Alexandria S, aka Little Black Kitten, and features Octopus Girl and her pet Octopus, complete with top hat and tentacle pie! You can find this set in our shop HERE as both a digital set and as single digi images.

Alex has created a journal page featuring the Octopus Girl Closeup from her new set:

"Several tentacles were lost in the making of this project"- Alex S. To see more details on her page, give her blog a visit later today.

The Keepers

The Keepers is a set of beautiful angels, keepers of lost love, with a Smeared Ink twist. The bleeding hearts and exposed bones are sure to get your creative juices flowing! You can find this set in our shop HERE as both a digital set and as single digi images.

I created an ATC with The Fifth Keeper, as well as a sentiment from the set.

When I see The Keepers, I picture them soft and pretty, so I chose to refrain from adding any blood and gore on this project. I'll probably try that next time. For now I stuck with soft pastels, used a tea-stained canvas background, and just layered my images and sentiment words. I hope you enjoy it.

Now, I hope you enjoy hopping through the blogs of our various Design Team members to check out more projects using these two fabby new sets. Please remember, posts will be live at 9am PST, so if you don't see a project yet, swing by a little later today.

Have fun checking out all the awesome inspiration!
