Day 7- 31 Days of Halloween: Webby Tassel

My project for today is a small altered piece that I will be making quite a few of to go around the house. Tassels are so fun because they are quick and you can make them match whatever decor you want. Mine, of course, is going to be used in my Halloween room, probably hanging from one of my apothecary jars like you see in the pics.

I started with one of those wooden lacing beads that you can get for kids to play with. I sanded it slightly, then added my orange paint color to the background. Then using stazon, I stamped my crosshatch pattern from Quoth The Raven (Smeared Ink). After that dried, I sprayed it with a light misting of shimmer spray.

The spiderweb you see in the middle is from our Lonely Boy and Puff set, and it was stamped into air dry clay. I let that set up, then painted. I wrapped the pretty scalloped ribbon around the bead, then attached my spiderweb.

The tassel part was really easy to make; just wrap ribbons of your choice around a piece of cardboard. Then using a separate ribbon to loop through them, tie them together. Then trim your ends to the length you want, and pull the tassel up through the hole in the bead.

I hope you like this simple tassel, I think the clay medallion adds a little something extra to it and I think I'll be trying a couple of different ideas for the others that I make. Maybe I'll make some of them with a Frankenstein head... you know, I heard that Strange Skin has lost track of their Frankenstein Monster. Isn't it funny how all of these Halloween characters have decided to up and leave? You'd think they have someplace to be or something. Well, maybe you can help spot him, and if you do I'm pretty sure Strange Skin would be willing to put your name in a drawing to win your choice of one of their Famous Monster Collection digis!

If you spot him, email me at terra@smearedink.com and let me know. I'll draw the winner tomorrow. Have a great day hopping!
